Strange thought, brought on by a random lj post in a comm I read.

WWII ended in 1945.

If a man was 17 when he joined, and 18 by the time he finished fighting in it, he would be 80 this year. If he had a son at 30, that son would be 50 this year. If that man had a son at 30, that son would be 20 this year.

...we're fast approaching the rate at which college freshmen's grandfathers would have been too young to have fought in WWII.

I feel old all of a sudden.
